Here's what you just missed...

We're kicking off 2026 with a bang! I just wrapped up understudying Pot Girls at The Story Theatre.
Directed by Ayanna Bria Bakari, this new play by Paul Michael Thompson debuts at Raven Theatre from February 12th - March 1st, 2026. Check out the premise of the play below!

What is the duty of the artist? Well, tonight, her only duty is to get stoned and celebrate!! Caryl is getting her first big Olivier-eligible production with a smart, sexy new play that centers women in the workplace. Her nearest and dearest friends—an assortment of feminist writers from throughout space and time—come to her London flat to kiki and drink grasshoppers. (Did I mention it’s 1982?) But when the party’s over and Caryl is presented with the ways her new play may be causing harm, she must decide whether or not she’ll learn from history or else abdicate her responsibility altogether. What is the role of critique in creation? Can we judge the artist’s politics by the artwork’s problems? And is any of our art really activism?

I was lucky enough to step in and perform as Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz/Christine a couple times throughout the run!
I had an absolute blast playing with this incredible cast onstage. Cheers to Team Understudy!

A Broadway Body: Continued Conversations

Last fall, I was honored to join my fellow actor friend Megan Gill (creator of the short film A Broadway Body) for an interview on all things surrounding body image in the industry as a part of Megan's A Broadway Body: Continued Conversations series. Check out the interview below, or read the full transcript here!

Continued Conversations with Jennifer Ledesma by Megan Gill

The impact of "Real Women Have Curves" on Broadway, rediscovering the joy of dance, hyper-self-critiquing our image as actors, choosing nuance over polarities with casting, & embracing your curves

I was thrilled to be a part of Artemisia Theatre's We Women Play Festival for the second year in a row! This three-day event featured six new feminist plays in development.

I was in two new works for the 2025 festival, playing Grace in Adult Children of Mandatory Mothers Anonymous (ACOMMA) by Marjorie Muller and Adriana in Floating Girls Go To The Moon by Maria Arreola.

This summer, I made my Oil Lamp Theatre debut as Missy in The Marvelous Wonderettes!  The show showcased popular 50's and 60's tunes like "You Don't Own Me," "Wedding Bell Blues," and "It's In His Kiss" all summer long in this fun jukebox musical with an all-female cast. The show ran in downtown Glenview from June 6th and was extended through July 20, 2025. Catch videos, photos, and reviews from the production below!

"Nostalgia! That is what I felt as the start of  Oil Lamp Theater’s 'The Marvelous Wonderettes,' a visit to music of my past... The entertainment for the evening is a quartet of ladies known as the Marvelous Wonderettes... Missy (a powerful performance by Jennifer Ledesma)..." - Alan Bresloff, Around the Town Chicago
"The four actresses each bring distinct personalities to the stage with flawless comic timing, rich vocals, and undeniable chemistry. The cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes includes... Jennifer Ledesma who belts it out as Missy." - Mira Temkin, Splash Magazine Chicago
